Professor Cool Puts Service – Not Sales – First!

Many moons ago, two young A/C guys decided they wanted to do things a little different than the status quo in the HVAC industry. Rob Morris, who moved from snowy New Hampshire to sunny Florida 15 years ago, got started in heating and air conditioning 21 years ago when he was looking for work during his summer break from college. His partner, Danny Sipe, born and raised in Tampa Bay, originally wanted to be an electrician, but was persuaded to go into heating and air conditioning at his technical college.

The A/C duo met ten years ago working together at an HVAC business in St. Pete. A few years later, they both left and went to work for a large A/C company in the Land O’ Lakes / Lutz area. Rob explained, “Working there, we noticed the company, and our industry as a whole, was becoming more sales oriented and less focused on service. We knew there was a better way to take care of customers, so we set off on our journey to start our own company. We’re now going on our fourth year in business following this service based model and we’re growing steadily, year after year. The majority of our new customers come from referrals and word of mouth, which tells us that we’re doing something right!”

I asked Rob what sets them apart from other companies. He said, “We are focused on actual service, not sales. We want to build long-term relationships with our customers. We’re a small company so there is a good chance that one of the owners will be one of the ones working on your A/C system. I know lots of companies talk about quality, to the point that it’s almost a cliché, but we’re obsessed with having the highest quality work at the best price – period. Another thing that sets us apart from other companies is our honesty. We don’t send salesmen out to your house. All of our employees are hourly to ensure our technicians aren’t trying to sell everything on their truck to a customer for a large commission check. It’s a different approach than most HVAC companies out there.”

“Danny and I just love this area. My oldest daughter is on a very competitive travel softball team and my middle daughter plays in little league. I also coach little league. When I’m not helping folks with their air conditioning, you can probably find me at the softball fields. Danny loves to golf and play basketball and his son plays soccer at the rec center in Land O’ Lakes.”
